Bodega Colomé has been producing sustainably farmed wine in the world’s highest vineyards since 1831. The winery is now owned by Hess Family Wine Estates, a Swiss family-owned company. Higher altitudes offer much more sun, much less UV protection and produce a thicker skinned grape that delivers a more robust flavor with fresh acidity to support it. Enjoyable upon release, though this Estate Malbec will shine with cellaring for several years. (Aging – 15 months in French oak barrels. 6 months in bottle).
This elegant Malbec is bright and intense in color with beautiful aromas of blackberries, red fruits and exotic floral notes, this wine delivers aromatics that entice the senses. A full lush entry of ripe and rich black fruit surrounds spiced oak notes and hints of pepper. Fresh acidity supports big, bold tannins and wonderful complexity. This will elevate a Wine Lab charcuterie board as well as skewered, grilled bbq chicken or hamburgers. Though we like this elegant style with a beautiful herb crusted lamb.
