Description
From winemaker Alvaro Palacios, son of the winemakers of Placios Remondo (Rioja), and Decanter Magazine’s “2015’s Man of the Year. With his extensive background in winemaking, particularly in Bordeaux during his 20s, Palacios is now considered a pioneer among Spain’s new generation of winemakers. As for the wine itself (Grenache, Syrah, Cab, Merlot, & Carignane), there’s an astounding balance between savory rusticity, structural depth, and aromatic finesse. Herbs, floral aromatics, and dried berry fruits spearhead the wines character, but there’s still loads of smoky spices (both savory & sweet) that lie in the backdrop – its honestly quite amazing so much complexity can be captured in one glass. As one can image, there’s fairly robust presence of tannins to couple w/ its intensely ripe character – any protein other than seafood, would be a wonderful match, but especially when heavily grilled, roasted, or smoked.
